"Crafting an Instrinsically Sustainable Place" The built environment is comprised of places made by human hands. What is it that causes some places to possess an intrinsic quality of sustainability while other places are simply left to rot? We’ll discuss the topic of sustainability in a holistic sense and identify some core elements which are always present in sustainable places. We’ll consider why it’s important and of great value to work to create such a place and we’ll see how this value is evidenced by financial, social and ecological outcomes. Lastly, we’ll be encouraged and challenged to realize that, as makers of the built environment, we can have a hand in positively shaping the way people live and interact.
